Shootin’ The Boot – New Post

The Vancouver Olympics had a bit of everything. There was tragedy prior to the opening of the games with the death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, the torch snafu that left Canadian hockey great Wayne Gretzky standing, prostitutes getting media training, and oh yeah- lots of great competition.

Froggy Bottom Pub

Prepare to take a step back into collegiate life. Although detached from any actual campus, the Froggy Bottom Pub feels like a renovated dorm-basement bar. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is strictly subjective.

It never ceases to amaze me how willing professional athletes are to strike. Do they not realize how lucky they are to be able to play a game for a living?

The 16-year-old MLS (Major League Soccer) is in danger of a work stoppage with the way that contract negotiations are going. On January 31st, the existing labor contract expired. As of yet, the two sides have not been able to agree on a whole lot.

Smoked Sausage and Potato Hash

This is a great dish on its on. Crispy potatoes and delicious smoked sausage with onion and thyme is about as good as it gets. I like to eat it with eggs or just on its own. There is little you need to add to make this dish great. A tall cold beer is about the only addition this dish deserves. I prefer a nice Bass Ale, a deep Guinness or a Beamish.

Stewed Chicken Legs with Jalapeno and Lime

Stewed Chicken Legs with Jalapeno and Lime

This is a great Latin inspired stew for a cold February night. This dish will not only create meltingly tender chicken legs but it will also produce a great chicken stock that can be eaten with your meal or saved for a later date. I would suggest a Corona Extra to match up well with the lime or even a Landshark Caribbean Lager.
