The reality show is one of MTV’s latest creations to hit television. In it the adventures of four guys, Ben, Dave, Duncan, and Jonnie are chronicled as they attempt to complete their list of things they want to do before they die, but unlike Nicholson and Freeman they are not waiting till their sunset years to get them done. The guys are not stopping with their own list of dreams though. For every dream they succeed in crossing off the list they will make the dream of a total stranger come true.
Laughs should come easy and without much thought. That concept is exactly what Spike TV is banking on with its new scripted show Blue Mountain State (Tuesday at 10pm) which centers around three freshmen starting college at a fictional football powerhouse and the misadventures that follow.
The police drama, Southland (TNT, Tuesdays at 10), was brought back to life thanks to the wondrous creation that is cable television. Thank goodness because the television world is a better place with this program in it.
People have always had an interest in law, criminals, and especially the takedowns of the bad guys. John Walsh really kicked off the reality law genre years ago with America’s Most Wanted. The Law and Order franchise have given reality law a shot more recently with their Trial by Jury series. Now we have the well known Dog the Bounty Hunter and Steven Seagal Lawman.
Apparently this Jean Christophe Novelli guy can cook; or at least that’s what people that have been to one of his restaurants in London, France, and South Africa think. Now the Frenchman will be taking his lovely and pregnant wife to the U.S. (L.A.) in order to train nine people hoping to learn from the best on their way to becoming the best.
Does it seem strange that a man named Einstein would make a living by destroying himself over and over in a series of never-ending catastrophic stunts? It’s actually pretty ingenious, maybe living up to the Einstein moniker, since Super Dave doesn’t actually do any of the stunts. He just makes people laugh with his self-absorbed, ridiculous antics.
A whole genre of movies has been created to feed off of the inherent fear that we all have of things that go bump in the night. We have all heard them; especially after watching one of these movies.
Like NBC, TBS has put a lot of time and money into generating buzz around cable television’s first foray into the late night talk show with Lopez Tonight. TBS has tried hard to portray it as the new late-night party, a revolution, something different than the rest of the talk show glut.
