Perhaps Vince will look to do a little celebrating with a beer from his hometown of Houston, Saint Arnold Christmas Ale. This strong ale (7%ABV) draws its high alcohol content and sweet, malty flavor from the five different malts used to create this brew. Two different types of hops give a spicy, hops flavor that balances out the taste giving it a nice full flavor. This is a good beer for warming you up on those cold winter nights as well as helping you forget how much you spent on Christmas presents this year.
In a town known for beer, Buck fans will have no shortage of options to choose from to enjoy while tailgating. Perhaps since it tends to get a little cold out they may want to tip back a few winter warmers like the Holiday Spice Lager that the Lakefront Brewery creates. This amber colored beer is made with cinnamon, orange zest, clove and generous amounts of honey to give it a rather unique taste. The Mt. Hood hops help balance the flavor in this full-bodied beer that will make you feel like you could take on Jennings after drinking a few (its alcohol content comes in at a hefty 9.5% ABV).
Go out to the parking lot prior to the game Texas-Texas A&M game and I would be willing to bet that you will find a few folks drinking a Bombshell Blonde from the Southern Star Brewing Company in Conroe, Texas. These guys have only been brewing this treat for just over a year, having started it in October of 2008. Fermented at a cold temperature in order to give it a nice, clean, easy to drink finish this golden ale will remind of you of yeasty bread flavors with a dominant hops flavor to give it the taste that tailgaters everywhere can enjoy, at 5.25% ABV you’ll have to worry more about missing the game because you are in the bathroom than anything else.
Around this time of year the sports landscape is dominated by the professional football and basketball along with the collegiate version of both. While football and basketball are still a ways away from anointing their respective champions there were a couple in different sports that were crowned last weekend.
The Eagles qualified for the Rugby World Cup in 2011 with a solid 27-6 victory over the Los Teros of Uruguay Saturday in front of more than 2000 rugby fans at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.
Fans had to be somewhat concerned going into Saturday’s match again the team from Uruguay. Even though history was on the side of the U.S. which had only lost to the Los Teros once in the last twenty years, they had nearly completed an amazing comeback against the Eagles a week earlier only to fall short by five.
You here about these stories through various media outlets and it becomes a little disheartening. Athletes use to be figures that could be looked up to an admired. Now they are more or less examples of disrespect for society, decency, and in many cases the rule of law. There are, however, a few shining examples you do not hear enough about.
July 4th was a wonderful day for fans of the Eagles, the U.S. National Rugby team. After a grueling and strategically played 80 minute match the team was one step closer to earning a berth in the 2011 Rugby World Cup with a 12-6 victory over the visiting Canadians.
Carolina Panther fans had reason to be anxious as the new NFL season approached this year. After the horrendous performance (5 ints and 1 fumble) put in by QB Jake Delhomme in the playoff loss to the Cardinals last season, many thought it was time for the Panthers to move on at the position. T
