Memorial day is the first summer holiday a day of the year and is traditionally spent with friends and family. It’s also the best time to bust out and dust off the grill. There is no better why to enjoy the holiday then with grilled and beer dunked bratwurst served with drippy onions on toasted sourdough rolls.

I suggest using Ayinger Bräu Hell. It goes great with bratwurst, has a malty aroma and a hint of caramel flavor.  It’s an excellent compliment to German bratwurst sausage. So easy to make, even the novice grill master is sure to impress their holiday guests.

-10 uncooked bratwurst links
-1/4 cup butter
-1 large onion, thinly sliced
-2 bottles of Ayinger Bräu Hell
-3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
-2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-3 cloves crushed garlic
-10 sourdough rolls, split in half and toasted

1. Pierce brats with fork and grill 20 to 30 turn once halfway through grilling.

2. In stock pan, melt butter. Add sliced onion, stir about 5 minutes or until tender. Add beer, brown sugar, garlic and Worcestershire. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Put brats in the beer mixture and keep warm until ready to serve, at least 20 minutes. Serve the brats on toasted sourdough rolls top with cooked onion slices and an ice cold bottle of Ayinger Bräu Hell.
