Best Time To Go: Friday Night

In Downtown Manhattan between Mott & Mulberry streets lies a small dive bar called Nolita House. Located right across the street from the Puck building and a short walk from the 6 Train, Nolita House is a chill bar with good drinks and great people.

This spot offers great Daily Happy Hour Specials including Two for One Drafts and $2 Tacos at the Bar from 4-7pm. Although it’s an awesome spot to enjoy an afterwork drink Nolita House really gets going late on a Friday night. Like many New York hotspots you can find a good mix of laid-back characters flooding in around 1:30am. The bar really gets going around 2am as more and more interesting people make their way in.

On tap Nolita House offers Six Point Righteous Rye, Brooklyn Lager, Sam Adams Octoberfest, Blue Moon, Stella Artois, and Miller Lite – all for a reasonable price. You can get Samuel Smith Organic Lager, Guinness, Labatt Blue Light, Blue Point Toasted Lager, Schneider Weisse, Corona, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Newcastle Brown Ale by the bottle as well as the regular mixed drinks.

Although there’s no DJ on site the bartenders do a pretty good job of playing quality music through an iPod. Top 40 and 80s hits fills the atmosphere. Despite their ability to select good music and create an impressive playlist the ad-hoc Djs fail to make a playlist long enough to last throughout the night. Stay for over two hours and your sure to hear Kevin Rudolf’s “Let it Rock” and other songs over and over again.

If you’re searching for a cool place to hang out with friends (and possibly make a few new friends) check out Nolita House. You’re sure to find a good crowd, reasonably priced drinks and a positive atmosphere.

Pros: Good drinks, Great atmosphere

Cons: Repetitive music

Rating: 4 out of 5
