It’s football season, and what better place to “throw down” than the Lazy Dog Sports Bar and Grill? Whether you’re seated at the bar, a booth or lifted table, you are guaranteed the best seat in the house. With over 40 large plasma screens, there is a television present in every direction, making it impossible to miss a play. No need to fire up the grill, just round up the crew and head down to Pearl Street.
A requirement for any sports bar is a quality beer list. Lazy Dog serves an assortment of amber, wheat, IPA and pale ale on tap, along with the standard bottled beers (Amstel, Bud, Coors, Heineken, etc.). Select local brews are also available, including New Belgium, Boulder Beer and Avery. If you still can’t figure out what beer to choose, there is always the Beer of the Day option. Choosing the respective Beer of the Day makes it easier on you and your wallet.
A wine list and all types of liquor are also on the menu, but there is more to this bar than the basic beer and booze. A lengthy list of cocktail and infusion drinks are what make the Lazy Dog an ideal place for a celebration beyond the victory of your favorite sports team. These drinks range from the year-round Ginger Lemonade to the seasonal offerings, like the Organic Pumpkin Pie Martini for the holidays.
This sports bar provides a range of pairings to go with any game. From sandwiches and burgers to pulled pork and ribs, your choice of beverage can determine your meal. The Lazy Dog is known for their signature barbeque sauces, so if you’re interested in a full meal a “bar-b-que” platter is recommended. With three styles of signature BBQ sauces to choose from you can make your entrée bold, sweet or tangy. These sauces are served with chicken, brisket, pork or three varieties of ribs. However, if you are just looking to enjoy the game with a cold beer and some chicken wings, they’ve got you covered.
Along with great food, this bar and grill is the opposite of “lazy.” A host is there to greet and seat the customer, giving this casual setting a more upscale feel. The servers are attentive, with fast and friendly service.
Although Sunday and Monday are the busiest day for the sports bar, the Lazy Dog also has live music in the Lazy Dog Lounge on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Both local favorites and national touring bands are welcome to play at this intimate music venue.
Pros: Great food, lengthy selection of drinks, variety of entertainment, good location.
Cons: Entrees can get a little pricey, depending on your choice. Can get a little rowdy during big sports games.
