Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery is the perfect combination of good beer and food. Brewed in house, Mountain Sun beer is guaranteed to provide the fresh-from-the-tap taste, serving a variety of I.P.A, porters, ales, stouts, and ambers.

The atmosphere at Mountain Sun is worth noting and is truly one of a kind (aside from the sister breweries, Southern Sun and Vine Street Pub). Mountain Sun is the smallest and homiest of the three chains, but they all share the hand painted and personally decorated style. With all types of aesthetically pleasing designs – such as trees, suns, mountains, flowers, etc – the pub radiates good energy and a relaxed ambiance. Board games and books are made available at no charge at any time. Mountain Sun frequently has live music, usually on Monday nights.

Since the beer selection changes frequently, sometimes daily, a new beer menu is printed each day. In addition, a beer board hangs on the wall with those beers that are always available to let the beer-drinkers know what’s on tap. Beers, such as the Colorado Kind Ale, Isadore Java Porter, Quinn’s Golden Ale and Annapurna Amber are on hand on any given day and vary in style and taste. The Isadore Java Porter, for example, is a different kind of ale, infused with a generous amount of coffee, which creates rich and creamy ale with a thick head much like a latte. Although Mountain Sun beers have an acquired taste with a hoppier tang, no two beers are alike in flavor, and guest ales from other breweries are frequently made available.

This brewery provides so much more than just great beer. If you just want to grab a bite to eat, Mountain Sun offers an American/Mexican style cuisine, whether you want something light or heavy. From burritos to burgers, entrees are reasonably priced between five and eight dollars, depending on your selection. This brewpub is known for their delectable burgers with all kinds of toppers and served with freshly cut fries. Also, like most restaurants in Boulder, there is always a vegetarian option. The most popular vegetarian dish is the garden burger, giving the vegetarian crowd the Mountain Sun burger experience without the meat.

On a busy night, the wait for a table may lead to one or two beers at the bar, but the wait will be worth it with the fast, friendly service you receive once you are seated. The staff works in what they call a “team system,” if a waiter passes your table that is not your server that evening, no worries, they will gladly put your order in for another pitcher or answer any questions you may have. This makes the Mountain Sun experience unique and fun.

Pros: Good food, great beer & selection. Good atmosphere.

Cons: Waitlists on a busy night (Fridays/Saturdays) can get lengthy, so putting your name on the list ahead of time is recommended. No credit cards accepted.
