post-itI found it very hard to process an incident that has happened last year. The New York Times recently printed an update on an Islamic woman who will be punished for drinking a beer in Malaysia.

Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, a 32-year-old nurse, confessed to violating an Islamic law by drinking beer in a hotel lobby in Malaysia last year. She was detained by prison authorities on Monday, but then was quickly released. Her punishment six strokes of a rattan cane whipping. In fact, authorities say it will be the first whipping for a woman under the country’s Islamic laws.
