Beer Battered Trout
Beer Battered Trout
Camping and fishing go hand in hand. Trout is easy to catch and easy to cook. If you’re not a big fan of trout, you can certainly try this recipe with other fish. Since we’ll be frying, I suggest using a lager in your batter so it’ll give a deep golden color and a crisp crunchy flavor.
_______________________________________________________________________
-6 Trout filets
-1 cup All-purpose flour
-2 12-oz beers (lager)
-1 tsp Cayenne pepper
-Tartar sauce
NOTE: Prepare the batter a day before camping because you’ll need a blender and refrigerator.
Directions:1. Mix flour, beer, and cayenne in blender until smooth & consistency of thick pancake batter. Refrigerate batter about 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
2. Dip filets in batter and drop into hot deep frying pan.
3. Remove from fat with slotted spoon & drain on paper towels.
4. Serve with tartar sauce and enjoy!
***5. (Optional) To spice up this dish, slice some potatoes and fry in the same pan or you can throw some chips on the plate and munch away.
