Beer Fixes Everything

So President Obama and his guests sipped some beer yesterday afternoon. Vice President Joe Biden joined in on the fun too.

It was confirmed, President Obama had a Bud Light, Sgt. Crowley had Blue Moon, Professor Gates drank Sam Adams Light and Vice President Biden (who doesn’t drink), had a Buckler nonalcoholic beer.

Speculation on Prof. Gate’s beer was incorrect. Cheers to Same Adams!!

The families of Gates and Crowley were also present and had a tour of the White House.

President Obama even released a statement later that day. The New York Times reports reports:

“I am thankful to Professor Gates and Sergeant Crowley for joining me at the White House this evening for a friendly, thoughtful conversation. Even before we sat down for the beer, I learned that the two gentlemen spent some time together listening to one another, which is a testament to them. I have always believed that what brings us together is stronger than what pulls us apart. I am confident that has happened here tonight, and I am hopeful that all of us are able to draw this positive lesson from this episode.”

While the group kicked back a few, activists picketed outside the White House. They weren’t protesting the meeting, they were protesting the choice of beverage! Members of  Pray at the Pump wanted the White House to serve lemonade instead.

Rocky Twyman, founder of Pray at the Pump, said, beer sends the “wrong message to our nation’s youth who are becoming alcoholics at young ages.” “Whether or not he likes it, President Obama is a role model for all the youth in America. His actions count.”

I support our American right to protest, but honestly, those who drink alcohol do not automatically become alcoholics. Do your research, people.
