tumultySometimes it’s hard to say what a “good” bar is because that depends on what you’re looking for. Are you the type that likes to get dressed up for a night at the bar? Do you like chill, casual bars, where you can come as you are and just hang out? Need a place with a large screen TV so you can watch the game? All these things matter when trying to find the perfect bar – which may be why I’m not a big fan of New Brunswick’s Tumulty’s Pub.

You can kind of tell what kind of place it is by the outside. George Street is an old unpaved road and Tumulty’s looks like it was built whenever those roads were first constructed… well before the 1770s. The exterior and interior give off a medieval vibe.

It’s hard for me to really tell what the crowd is like. I was there on a weekday evening so there weren’t many people there, a couple of old guys tossing back beers and random people enjoying a meal. Despite the lack of customers it was still very clear how casual the bar is.

Again, a good bar is defined by what you’re looking for. Yes, it has beer; and if that’s all you’re looking for you’re in luck. Choose from Guinness, Stout, Harp, Blue Moon and their homemade IPA on tap as well as classic bottled beers. The food selection is really good as well. The burgers and chicken fingers are on point.

Pros: Good Service, Great Customers

Cons: Dreary, depressing atmosphere

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
