Early-afternoons both during the week and on the weekend. This allows you a better opportunity to relax in their dimly-lit lounge area, which truly heightens the pleasure in sampling various offerings from around the globe.

Have you met your new best friend? He offers 70 tap selections, over 120 bottles and is aware of every alcohol-related rarity and hidden gem before they’re even popular. His name is The Ginger Man. Please, say hello.

gingermanLocated on 36th St. between Madison and 5th Ave. , the wood-tabled brew haus has represented New York as prime connoisseur of beer since 1996, and has built its reputation on a quality selection of bottles and taps from across the world (the menu hits Australia, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and everywhere between).

Their beer list includes: The Ginger Man Ale, Affligem Blonde, Alvinne Kerasus, Alvinne Podge Stout, Chimay Triple, Corsendonk Brown, Delirium Tremens, Dogfish Head Palo Santo, Duchesse de Bourgogne, Duvel Green, Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, Kwak, La Chouffe, Leffe Blonde, Lindemans Framboise, Rodenbach, Sixpoint Express, Smuttynose Really Old Brown Dog Ale, St. Feuillien Saison, St. Bernardus Abt 12, Unibroue La Terrible, Old Speckled Hen, Stone Arrogant Bastard Oaked, Arcadia Whitsun, Captain Lawrence Sunblock, Franziskaner Hefe, Hoegaarden, Ithaca Apricot Wheat, River Horse Double White, Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat, Guinness, Avery New World Porter, Arcadia Cocoa Loco Triple Chocolate, Young’s Chocolate Stout, Left Hand Oak Aged Imperial Stout, Lagunitas Pils, Radeberger Pilsner, Victory Prima Pils, Rogue Chipotle Ale, Clipper City Heavy Seas Holy Sheet, Sierra Nevada Brown Saison, Victory Abbey 8, Blue Point Hoptical Illusion, Chelsea Hop Angel IPA, Smuttynose IPA

If you’re in the mood to venture outside of your Budweiser box (even though Bud Light is offered on tap), frolic to The Ginger Man—it’s guaranteed you won’t want to leave.

Pros: Easily the best collection of beer in Manhattan . Staff is knowledgeable of their stock, which helps when dealing with uncommon selections that may leave most individuals hesitant and overwhelmed with what to try.

Cons: Nothing. The perfect score was not obtained because personally, I consider an establishment of that caliber to allow their customers to party mouth-open under their taps, without the hassle of payment (a person can dream, can’t they?). In other words, perfect doesn’t necessarily exist, at least in the service industry. However, The Ginger Man comes as close as possible, and that’s no dream.
