cat-and-fiddle1In a town full of trendy bars trying too hard to be the place where the cool kids come to play at night, The Cat and Fiddle offers a character rich English pub with a classic LA atmosphere. Inside you’ll find a large restaurant and lounge with an intimate bar. For a different, more private experience they have a side room available for large parties or bar spillover. All this is great, but the outdoor area is why you come to Cat and Fiddle. In my opinion, the best outdoor bar and lounge in Hollywood. It’s a beautiful courtyard with a slate patio sprinkled with plants, fountains, and outdoor seating ranging from casual benches to classy outdoor dining tables. Late night, many people gather to sit on the edge of the fountain or large planters to take in the atmosphere, while others find a corner to have a heated debate over film and music. The staff is friendly from the bouncers to the bus boys and it certainly feels like a neighborhood bar, even if you catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two. To drink, they have a decent selection of bottled and draft beers and a select list of wines. During happy hour is the best time to get the draft beers at half their normal price. If you’re hungry, the menu is typical for a pub but with a touch of the high class. I recommend the burger or the crab claws. If you do go to Cat and Fiddle, enjoy the outdoors and conversation because there’s no better place for it.

Pros: Best outdoor atmosphere in Hollywood, great staff.

Cons: Light on the beer and wine selection, not an outstanding food menu.
