About 200 beer enthusiasts came to taste the finest beers from around the world at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale on November 22.  Among premium beers from Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, and Thailand, included Negra Modelo, Presidente, and Peroni.

Scott Franklin, marketing representative of Kasteel Cru, says this specialty beer is quite interesting because the taste “starts like a beer, and finishes like a champagne.”  In fact, it is so exclusive that it can only be found in New York, London and San Francisco.

Sugar Hill, Coney Island & He’Brew, Butternuts Beer & Ale, and many more local brewing companies, also participated. Long Island’s newest brewery, Fire Island Lighthouse Ale, is a family business that is growing rapidly. New York restaurants and bars will soon be carrying their Fire Island Lighthouse Ale starting April 2009.

Beer lover Rich Urbancik from Ronkonkoma says he attends beer expos frequently. “My favourite beer was the cream stout and cherry wheat from Sam Adams.”
